You need to build up your knowledge gradually until these topics become something you know not just something you can recall. To do this you n eed to constantly revise new information as you go. Make sure you really understand a topic before you move on to the next one. To build up your knowledge and like a real building, you need to ensure the foundation is strong! If you don't understand a concept don't ignore it, work on it and ask your teacher for more help.Doing little and often is a much more effective way of learning, you will struggle to do it all just before the exam. Here are some of our tips to get you prepared:Get OrganisedDraw up a revision timetable to help add structure to your learning. Having a visual aid with the work you need to do can help you prioritise your time. And not to mention it won’t let you forget all the work that’s to come!Draw out your calendar yourself or print one off, decorate it however you want to just make sure it's neat!At GCSE you have a lot of other subjects to revise for too, so use different colours for your subjects or different colours per physics topic.Hang your revision ti metable somewhere visible in your room and once you've done a revision session or covered a specific topic tick it off the timetable. This should be something you do regularly over the course of your GCSEs not just the few months before your exams!Having a visual reminder of all the work you've put in will give you a confidence boost before the exam.Past papers are essential for revision (Source: pexels) PetarPhysics Teacher 5.00 (11) £40/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors MyriamPhysics Teacher 5.00 (13) £20/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors Dr parikhPhysics Teacher 5.00 (8) £40/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors RubenPhysics Teacher 5.00 (1) £15/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors FrankPhysics Teacher 5.00 (8) £90/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors JidePhysics Teacher 4.80 (5) £30/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors DorothyPhysics Teacher 5.00 (5) £40/h1st lesson free!Discover all our tutors RahulPhysics Teacher £20/h1st lesson free !Discover all our tutorsPractice Practice PracticePast exam papers from previous years are key to preparing yourself for the exams. Use the papers to see what topics you’re struggling with or maybe you’re yet to cover them in class.Sit at least some of the past papers in exam-like conditions. You’ll get to see what it’s like to recall information and test your knowledge without any revision notes on hand.Use the papers to practice demonstrating your knowledge. What you think you know in your head and what you can actually put down onto paper aren't always the same. You might that you need to brush up on your physics vocabulary i n order to succinctly answer a question. All of this practice will put you at a great advantage in the exam and you’ll have already worked out all the problems in the past papers!Find law tutors UK now.TeamworkIf you find revision difficult or if you’re struggling to grasp certain topics you might find it useful to join a study group.Working in a group can be a great motivator as you can encourage each other and discuss your ideas together. People don’t always see things in the same way, so if you’re don’t understand something a classmate might have a different way of explaining it.You can also swap revision techniques and resources with your study group. Test each other’s knowledge by setting quizzes or work on solving a problem together. You will find that everyone bounces off each other and revision will become much less boring. All in all, it’s just great to feel a sense of solidarity that you’re not in it alone! What’s Your StyleThere is no one size fits all when it comes to learning. Everyone learns in a different way.Once you understand your learning style and revision techniques whether you’re a visual, auditory, reading or writing learner, then remembering and recalling new information will become much easier.Try mixing up methods to see what suits you best. If you struggle with reading textbooks then maybe this isn't the learning method for you.Try something different like watching YouTube lessons or use sites like BBC bitesize to learn in a more fun, dynamic way.You could try listening to podcasts, watching videos or documentaries, studying in a new place or even something as simple as using different colours for your study notes to make them stand out.Whatever method you use make sure you d what’s best for you.D-dayThe day of your exam can be stressful but don’t worry too much, there are many ways you can minimise your anxiety before you enter the exam hall.Simple things like eating a good breakfast and getting to the exam hall on time can make a big difference.Focus on yourself and remember all the hard work you’ve put in over the course of two years. Doing the work is the best and really the only way to feel confident about the exam.Whatever methods you choose to revise just make sure you give yourself time to prepare. Not only will you save yourself stress you'll give yourself the best possible chance to achieve the grades you deserve.Good luck and happy revising!

Spanish Grammar Comparisons, Negation, and Superlatives

Spanish Grammar Comparisons, Negation, and Superlatives Suzy S. As you learn to speak Spanish, youll need to be able to put together  a variety of phrases. Here, Spanish teacher Jason N.  shows you how to  describe nouns in relation to each other Spanish Comparisons In English, as in every language, we compare people, places, and things  regularly. Spanish comparisons aren’t too different, there are just new formulas to learn. The good news is theyre very basic and you can learn them for the long-run in a couple of hours! Heres the most important one: Here are some examples:  Obama es más alto que Clinton (Obama is taller than Clinton)  Mi carro es más rápido que el carro de Juan (My car is faster than Juan’s) Now its your turn to practice! (The answer key can be found at the bottom of the article) 1)  Jim is smarter than Alex. 2) Alison is stronger than Brook. 3)  The office at TakeLessons is nicer than the office I previously worked in. Equal Comparisons Sometimes one thing isnt better or worse than the other. For that, were able to compare things that are the same. Here’s another important formula: There are also endless combinations that can go in the blanks. For example:  Obama es tan alto como Clinton (Obama is as tall as Clinton)  Mi carro es tan rápido como el carro de Juan (My car is just as fast as Juan’s) Negative Expressions in Spanish It’s especially easy to make things negative in Spanish    just add a ‘no’ in front of whatever youd  like to negate. For example: No es chistoso Daniel (Daniel isn’t funny) Negation in Spanish can also be redundant and emphatic, in that sometimes it repeats itself. While double-negatives in English cancel themselves out logically, in Spanish double-negatives are frequently used to convey negation. Check out this example: No tengo nada (I have nothing) The direct translation in English is “I don’t have nothing,” which sounds odd and would imply the speaker has something. In Spanish, however, this is correct and simply means you have nothing. Once you practice your Spanish some more, these nuances will become second nature to you. Superlatives in Spanish If you want to isolate one person, place, or thing as being the most something (a superlative), you just put the definite article (el, la, los or las) before the given phrase. For example:  Esta mujer es la más guapa (This woman is the prettiest)  Florida es el estado más hermoso de los Estados Unidos (Florida is the most beautiful state in the United States) You may be surprised to realize that the word most doesn’t exist in Spanish. There is also no way to add the superlative suffix ‘est’ at the end of words. It may seem odd that it just translates to ‘the more,’ but it works because using the definite article and context help readers and listeners  understand what you mean. Practice  translating these sentences (again, answer key is at the end of the article!): 1)  Jim is the smartest man alive. 2) Alison is the strongest woman alive. 3) The office at TakeLessons is the nicest office in the United States. Bonus Words: Irregulars Wait there’s more! Here are other Spanish comparison words including confusing irregulars: Mayor vs. menor (older vs. younger) Alto vs. bajo/a (in Mexican Spanish it’s often ‘chaparro/a’) bueno (good) becomes  mejor (better) malo (bad) becomes  peor (worse) Viejo (old) becomes  mayor (older) joven (young) becomes  menor (younger) Your Spanish tutor can help you better understand double- (and sometimes triple-) negatives in Spanish! My advice is to explore the language through movies, music, and books, and work with a good tutor. Its also a good idea to make sure you know how to pronounce Spanish words before you start practicing them. Happy learning! Answer Key Comparisons 1) Jim es más inteligente que Alex. 5 Authentic Steps for Getting Over Your Fears - Introvert Whisperer

Introvert Whisperer / 5 Authentic Steps for Getting Over Your Fears - Introvert Whisperer 5 Authentic Steps for Getting Over Your Fears We all have demons to deal with, and they are called fears. At times, they are the only force that keeps us from performing well in our lives. Very often we think that we are introverts, we just don’t like socializing much, and it is alright to stay in our comfort zone. But, in reality, things are different, and we want to socialize, but we just don’t feel confident enough. In fact, this is the fear of rejection that bars us from talking to someone. Is there any way to feel comfortable and not let the fears slip near us to unlock our potential? And, the answer is yes we can say goodbye to our concerns with these five authentic steps. 1. Enlist What Haunts You First of all, we need to be cautious enough about what is causing the real trouble. Most of the times we don’t even know that something is making us uncomfortable. So, take your time and list down all those fears that might be bothering you. For example, you may fear Rejection Failure Disapproval Getting Fired Someone’s Wrath Or Any Situation you don’t want to face Keep in mind one thing. So many times the problem becomes difficult to solve only because people don’t know if it exists or not. Thus, the very first problem is recognizing the existence or diagnosing the disease- then begins the rest of the task. 2. See If Your Fears Are Real or Not?   Many times, people burden their souls only with abstractions. They overthink about something that doesn’t even exist in a vacuum, but it makes them face their fears like fools. Let’s take a simple example. Many times sitting in the courtyard at the time of night one may see a hand waving at the front wall or a scene that may seem too horrible enough for one to scream out loud. And, in reality, that waving hand or an awful view might be nothing more than an illusion or a shadow of some object placed on a tree of the back wall. In our daily lives, there are so many shadows that make us afraid. 3. Talk to Yourself   You are in effective mentor for yourself and you even don’t know it. Once you know there is something that haunts you and that thing is real, then now is the time to talk yourself about it. Just stand before a mirror or take a pen or page and start writing down whatever you feel. This is the best ever way to talk about the things that haunt you. Just write about the problems and their solutions write in a manner as you are talking to someone. The practice is more like a therapy that consoles one’s heart and it works just like a person shedding tears on some close friend’s shoulder. 4. Don’t Fear the Failures   Fear of the failure is the most horrible monster. It can slowly decay one’s potential and talent without letting the person know about the loss. If you know that fear to fail in not achieving what you want to get is stopping you from taking the first step, then immediately take the first step. Just imagine, that you fail to achieve what you want. Now, what will happen? You will just fail, but learn something new and not to repeat the mistakes. You will come up with another plan to do something better. At least, you wouldn’t have any regret that you didn’t try. 5. Look Around for the Examples   Very often the thought what will other say, or the feeling that we will become a laughing stooge stops us from doing something in life. Now, just think one thing that all other people are human beings. They can do and repeat the mistakes that we are capable of doing. So, why to worry about doing something that everyone is capable of? Realization of the fact that we are all dealing with human beings should be enough to get away with fears. Author Bio:

Major scale solos should be slow and deliberate to start with. You might even think of each individual note as a separate syllable. The blues scale based ones, however, give you more room to move around and can vary in tempo as much as you want them to. Though Ive provided a checklist of relevant criteria above, determining the right time to branch into advanced forms of expression is not an easy call. While I advocate learning the two modalities in tandem with one another so as not to confuse soloing with any other musical skill, you may find yourself wanting to play along with songs by favorite artists. I wholeheartedly support this. If youre particularly solo-hungry, I recommend experimenting with notes in the major scale while practicing accompaniments. See what works for you. Find a pattern that says what you want it to. Picking out individual notes of major chords (as opposed to playing scale-based patterns one note at a time) is a great place to start. I recommend doing this as early in the curriculum as you feel compelled to. Expression is an area regarding which your guitar teacher can provide only guidance. Determining what or who you want to sound like is key to constructing a musical identity. For the most part, its best to learn as many chords and as much theory as possible before beginning to play guitar solos. However, practicing tricks along the way (i.e. picking out melodies from basic chord progressions) may expedite it and provide an otherwise inaccessible sense of direction. Students Thrive When Theyre Not Isolated, Community Rolls Up Its Sleeves

Students Thrive When They’re Not Isolated, Community Rolls Up Its Sleeves Students Thrive When They’re Not Isolated, Community Rolls Up Its Sleeves Students Thrive When They’re Not Isolated, Community Rolls Up Its Sleeves September 1, 2015 By Emily Elliott, Executive Director Below is my two-minute response to the prompt “What Matters Most in Education,” shared recently with candidates for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Board of Education during a recent Community Conversation hosted by MeckEd. What matters most to me in public education is that our students in need are not isolated and that every child has the opportunity to fully realize his/her potential. This cannot be a “my children vs. other people’s children” question in Charlotte. What I can add to the conversation is what I see on a day-to-day basis which is how often that when people are asked “Will you be a volunteer tutor? Will you spend an hour per week to help a student who is struggling, who is not your child?” â€" how often people say YES. Hundreds of people are willing to help â€" business people, young professionals, community volunteers, college students. Many have no other interaction with public schools on a regular basis â€" 70% of Heart volunteers, actually â€" but they are rolling up their sleeves and care DEEPLY about Charlotte’s children. When in the schools, they see great things â€" talented teachers, hard-working administrators. They are also asking questions: Why is my student this far behind? Clearly, he can learn. We cannot let ourselves get used to the numbers â€" that more than half of economically disadvantaged students are not proficient in math and reading. In many ways, community members reduce isolation. Xavier now knows someone who works in a tall building downtown and has plans to do so himself. When we ask what he will do in the tall building, he says, “I’m going to own it!” I share this both as a bright spot â€" people care about this â€" but also to tell elected officials, please know, when you are making decisions about resource allocation and school assignments, please know that there is will, there is increasing knowledge, and there is LOVE of students whose odds are stacked against them. I see it every day. The community is behind you and is watching, and your work is urgent.

Python Tutor - What You Need to Choose the Best One - Private Tutoring

Python Tutor - What You Need to Choose the Best One BobbiM May 30, 2017 If you are studying Python these days, it can get overwhelming quite fast and thats when many students start looking for a Python tutor.   And once you fall behind on this or just about any course, it becomes a struggle to catch up.   Thats where staying on top of your course will make all the difference in your grades as well as your stress levels.   Last minute, end of semester scrambling for grades or figuring out what you need to learn months before becomes more difficult and stressful. Python is a complex object oriented programming language.   And like any programming language, students have areas that can become difficult to grasp.   Since much of programming builds upon earlier knowledge, making sure that you grasp all the steps of your coding and the processes along the way is critical for not only your coding but your grades at this point. So if you want to stay on top of your courses, and Python in particular, its time to start exploring what types of private tutors or other tutoring options are available. Python Tutor Options: You can keep on muddling along.   Give it a go for another month or two and see how things work out?   Maybe you and Python will all of a sudden connect and it will all fall into place?   You never know, these kind of things do happen! Give up some of your free time and make some appointments to see your teachers for assistance.   Depending on where you go to school and the teacher, this can be a great choice.   After all, the professor is the one that makes the exams so knowing what they want, how they are thinking can make the difference between a B or an A at times.   For a quick fix or an occasional question or two, this might be very effective and helpful. Online resources are becoming better in just about any academic or technical topic that you can think of. There are many computer tutoring options available! And this holds true for Python tutoring as well.   If you are good at researching and digging into information, theres several options that you can explore.   Just make sure that you are choosing solid websites that have the correct and applicable information. Python tutors are yet another option to consider.   These days finding one that can either help you in the convenience of your home or office is easy.   In addition, online Python tutors are additional options that you might want to consider.   This way you can find the best tutor no matter where you or they are located.   Both at home tutors as well as online tutors can work with your schedule and requirements.   In terms of flexibility, this is the best option! What to Look for in a Python Tutor: Like with any tutor, when you are choosing a Python tutor, you want to make sure that they have experience.   Are they well versed in the areas and topics that you need now and that you will need in the future.   Once you have found your programming resource, you want to make sure they can assist you into the future as well.! Have they tutored others in the course/s or areas that you need assistance with?   This avoids any lags or downtime which can be a money saver.   If they have tutored in these areas then theyll be ready to help you as soon as you kick things off rather than trying to get up to speed on where you are and what you need. Find a Python Tutor Near You Today! Why teaching English abroad after graduation was the best decision of my life

Why teaching English abroad after graduation was the best decision of my life The decision to move and teach English abroad was inspired by many sleepless nights leading up to my university graduation. I was earning my BA in behavioral sciences and entirely unsure of what I would do next. Deciding what to do after graduation. The list of options was as follows: Apply for graduate school to become a psychologist. Stick with working in the non-profit sector, with the homeless population in Austin. Start applying for any job that sounded fun (hey, I was eager to pay my private school diploma off ). Throughout this, I kept thinking how wonderful it would be to just travel for a while, to have some time to work out what my next big decision should be. Given my student loan predicament, it didn’t seem possible to simply travel without any income, so I began to think about the types of jobs that allow you to travel, earn a decent wage, while still offering fulfillment. The one thing I’ve always known is that I want to spend my days being of service. If I can do that, I know I’ll feel fulfilled. I’m not the type to jump into anything without first researching all possible outcomes. Despite my desire to be more spontaneous, I just can’t help myself. So, the more I searched for that perfect career the more it kept leading me back to teaching abroad. How to land a job teaching English abroad without experience Then, in a most fortuitous turn of events, I landed on the English Program in Korea (EPIK) website late one evening and discovered that I didn’t have to be a certified teacher to teach abroad. In fact, I didn’t have to have anything but the bachelor’s degree that I would soon be receiving. I began to fill out the very lengthy application form and became quickly overwhelmed. A medical exam, visa paperwork, apostilled documents, oh my. Taking the first step towards teaching abroad after graduation. Sign up to Teach Away today for access to the latest teaching jobs around the world. I would now have to reach out to all of my professors and supervisors and explain that I wouldn’t need a letter of recommendation for graduate school but, for an English teaching job in South Korea. I stopped the application there and left it at that for a while. But I kept researching ways that I could become a teacher and move abroad while doing so. I discovered a number of recruitment agencies and settled on one that sounded like a good fit for me. The application process was less daunting than with EPIK and helped me decide on a region while breaking the process down into a more manageable step-by-step process. Meanwhile, I applied to graduate school - well, six schools to be exact! I awaited responses with bated breath and wrapped up my last few weeks of college exams and my thesis. During many late nights, I would travel, via the internet, to all of the places in the world that I wanted to be that weren’t Austin. I worked on applications for jobs with the recruitment agency I was working with and even started my online TEFL course. I also watched videos of people who had moved abroad, read their blogs, and through this, finally figured out where I wanted to live and teach abroad. Researching the best places to teach English abroad for graduates. I did initially fall in love with the idea of teaching English Thailand. I thought it seemed like paradise and a place that I could really discover myself and what I was meant to do. However, the more I looked into teaching in Thailand I realized it didn’t actually align with my goals. Although I would be able to teach underserved communities I didn’t think it would provide the right opportunity for me to become a well-trained educator. After looking into the most desirable and even least desirable options I settled on a country that seemed like my Goldilocks (“just right”) teaching destination. I decided to set my sights on teaching English in South Korea once more, as it was one of the highest-paying countries to teach abroad in, with the most attractive benefits and accommodations. EPIK also provides teachers training and orientation upon arrival, ongoing support and co-teachers to support new teachers in the field. I ended up applying to EPIK via a recruitment agency, which was helpful in that they secured and managed applications and interviews for me. I don’t know that I have ever been as nervous as I was when someone from the agency told me that I landed an interview with an EPIK school. That was to take place via Skype. With a number of school leaders. Who may or may not speak English. It was late in the evening, give the time difference, so I had a full day to sweat the jitters out. I read through every potential interview question and memorized my most appropriate responses. I even wrote them down and practiced up until the call came through. I made sure I was wearing a suitable outfit, that nobody could interrupt me and eagerly awaited that incoming Skype call jingle. Miraculously, I passed the interview and moved on to the second part of the application process! I considered the hard part over (little did I know that packing my entire life into two suitcases lay ahead). Throughout the entire process, I was incredibly nervous, which told me that this was actually what I wanted to do. When I received the message that I would become an EPIK teacher and was only awaiting which city and school I would teach in, I was elated. I waited months to find out where I would be placed but, unlike most candidates I really didn’t have a preference. I felt so grateful to even be accepted and had so much hope for the experiences to come, that I knew wherever I ended up would prove to be an amazing adventure. The traditional start time for EPIK teachers is August but I had a late start, beginning in September. This meant I wouldn’t complete my orientation and training prior to the start of the school year. I would be thrown right in, the day after I arrived. I was placed at a large elementary school in a small rural farming town called Jincheon. I couldn’t find anything about it online at the time (things have changed quite a bit by now). I really didn’t know anything about the school or the town but I knew that whatever I walked into it would be a learning experience. My advice: When in doubt, teach abroad after graduation! I could never have imagined that my one year in Jincheon would have been the start of my career teaching (both at home and abroad) as well as a catalyst for world travel that resulted in lifelong friendships. It truly was the best decision I’ve ever made and has shaped the person that I am today. I would highly recommend such a radical change to anyone interested in learning about a new culture, teaching about their own or just discovering themselves within the context of such a raw experience.
